Easy ways to add value to your home

Whether you’re a homeowner or a property developer, adding value to your home is considered as something that is extremely important. It’s even more important if you are looking to put a property back on the market to move up the ladder. This means that completing renovation work in order to increase the value of your home becomes a necessity. This doesn’t always mean that you have to complete large projects though, there are ways that you can add value to your home or at least make sure you’re getting the best offer available.

Have a look below at some of the easy ways you can add value to your home:

Update The Bathroom One of the areas that a buyer will often look at is the bathrooms in a property. They are seen as a big project if you’re starting from scratch, therefore, it can easily put a potential buyer off when they think that they’re going to have to complete large renovation project after they’ve already spent a large sum of money on the house and fees. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you need to completely redo the bathrooms in your home it just means you need to make sure they’re in full working order, clean and presentable. If you have a really outdated suite it might be worth replacing it as these can be hard to work with when modernising. However, if you have a relatively new suite you can look at updating by adding in new light fittings, a new toilet seat, regrouting and adding new taps. The aim is to have a bathroom that doesn’t require any immediate work. You should also look to replace any broken tiles or dripping taps

Update The Kitchen  Much like the bathroom, the kitchen is a room that many potential buyers see as a priority. This is because it can sometimes be an expensive project if you need to install a new one. You can look at updating your kitchen without the need to replace, especially if you have cupboards that are still solid and decent flooring. Have a look at updating with:

  • New Cupboard Doors

  • Replace The Handles

  • New Taps

  • Replace The Worksurfaces

  • Add A Statement Light Fixture

  • Deep Clean Any Built IN Appliances

  • De-Clutter The Worktops

  • Repair Any Broken Tiles

  • Regrout Tiles

  • Add A Back Splash

Refresh The Paintwork Around The House A really easy way to make sure you’re getting the best value for your house is to make sure it is clean and presentable. This means you should think about giving the painted areas in your home a once over and a fresh coat of paint. This works particularly well for items such as radiators, skirting boards and ceilings. Have a look at places to buy building materials online, this way you can have any supplies delivered directly to your door. By making sure the white paint is fresh, you are making your home appear fresher and cleaner. You’ll be very surprised by how much the white areas in your home have yellowed over the years.  These are just a few of the easy ways you can add value to your home, do you have any others that you can add to the comments below?
