Weekend blog post #1

January 21, 2017

A long over due post on some of the projects I have underway, it's been a hectic start to the new year. It's so cold and frosty but I started the day taking Toby for his walk, here is the little man in action. Toby is in his coat in the background playing with Woody one of the new labradoodles who have moved into the village and his pal Alfie is up front.

I have been dreaming of owning a cast iron roll top bath for as long as I can remember. My Nan and Grandad had a standard tub in their bathroom and have wanted one ever since.

We decided this year is the year we get some of the bigger house projects off our list, starting with our bathroom. I have taken it upon myself to crack on and have made our first purchase, a beautiful original cast iron slipper bath {another eBay purchase}.

It's in such good condition I'm so pleased with myself! It's already been primed but I think I'm going to give it a light sanding with some fine wet and dry paper and prime again with Zinsser Bin first of all which is apparently perfect to use for any plastic or cast iron bath, then I want to repaint it using a Farrow & Ball eggshell. I was tempted with a pink bath but Rob said 'No' so we will to go for grey. It's classic and I'd probably get a little sick of pink anyway...

Anyway, it's currently sitting in our dining room as it's going to take 3 men to get it up the stairs! Can't wait for our Plummer to come next week.

I have also stumbled upon a 1940's 2 draw unit which I'll convert into our bathroom sink vanity unit, I'll do a separate blog post on how I converted it once it's finished. I've got a baby Belfast sink already so I'm hoping we can use that if not I'll start hunting again for a replacement.

I'll be back with another update and how to refurbish a cast iron bath soon.

Blunty xx
