Day out at David Austin Roses

July 18, 2017

Oh David Austin! Oh the roses, oh the shop! It’s getting into summer now and things are warming up, the buds are starting to bloom and I mean BLOOM! My Mum and I recently took a trip to David Austin plant center and gardens near Albrighton in Wolverhampton. One of the most beautiful, fragrant rose gardens in the World. We visited on a Saturday and it was full with visitors. June is a very popular time to go, mainly because most of the varieties of rose are in flower. People visit from all over the world to see the world's greatest English roses.

With the roses changing daily (even hourly whilst we where there) I have taken soooo many photos to try and capture everything in bloom. It’s been a fantastic summer for roses!

We took a trip over the first week on June (my brother lives over that way so a perfect excuse to head over) the sun was shining and the roses were in full flower and smelling divine, it couldn’t have been a better day. I remember visiting as a child and the weather had always been very sad, cold and the roses were in a wet weathered, windswept state. (Gotta love the British weather)

Having been my birthday the week before I wanted to spend my birthday money before it burnt a whole in my pocket. It really helps to see the roses in the gardens, as well as all set out ready to buy.

They are in much better condition than a standard garden center and a very, very well looked after by the professional gardeners who are on hand to help and advise you.

I wouldn’t buy a rose from anywhere else now.  In addition, the fantastic array of roses to be viewed and the chance to wander around smelling the various scents is a day out in itself.

{Oh hi Mr. Peacock}

{Well it would be rude not too...amazing Victoria Sponge!}

I was on the lookout for two particular roses that day, Scepter'd Isle a beautiful soft pink, fragrant rose and an old English rose called Generous Gardener.

I love the fragrance of roses
