I'm starting the year off with a small-ish project- our little bedroom has had a makeover into our study.
Decorating can be a blooming expensive and timeconsuming game when it comes to sprucing up ones home. My quick weekend 'Study project' only took me a few days to complete.
Here are some photos if you'd like to see.
We updated our study using a few of these basic pine shelves from Wickes. I gave them a quick rub down with sand paper and then proceeded to paint them in the same Farrow and Ball Hague Blue. I just love this colour!
The study before was just a dumping ground for so many random bits and bobs that just didn't have a real home, including my Mom and Dad's newly upholstered nursing chair. We cleared this room out and threw away a lot of stuff. It felt so good to have a good clear out!
We decided on Farrow and Ball Hague blue all over and used Cornforth White on the ceiling.
If you only change one thing in a room painting it will make a huge difference. I had so many debates with myself on painting a small box room a dark colour. If anything its made the space look bigger.
Rescue, recycle, reuse
It's worth spending some time looking at some of the everyday objects that you have in your home and establishing how they can be refashioned or re-used.
This gentleman's stand is one of my favorite furniture items in our house but it its never had a proper home and has always collected dust. We decided on going for a luxury, gentleman's office space for Rob when he's working from home.
Naturally this found its place in the study. I have it a bit of a light sanding and a gentle wax which restored it to its former glory.
It is amazing to see the change in here now, it was so worth the work of a weekend!
Have you got any plans to redecorate in 2018?
