If you are looking for a fun project to do this week to make your home more fun and characterful, there are plenty of crafts you can do. There’s nothing better than playing around with some materials and DIY projects in your own time and making some unique pieces for the home. It can be a fun way to add personality to your home this year, and here are some simple ones to try this week.
Watercolour art tiles
One of the easiest DIY jobs you can do in the home this year is to make some art for the walls. You don’t have to be Picasso to create a wonderful piece of art for your home, you simply need to have some colours, a canvas and a paintbrush. Watercolour style art is easy to make and you simply need to choose 2-3 colours to use on each canvas. Start off by setting the canvas with your brush, dip into a colour and let it drip onto the page and spread. You can play around with patterns like this and you can end up with some truly lovely effects as a result of it.
Tyre ottoman chair
For the more crafty amongst you, you can actually turn an old tyre into a lovely storage seat for the living room with some plywood, rope and a large cushion. All you need to do is cut two circles of plywood, staple one underneath the tyre and the other will have a cushion glued to it and then will be simply placed on top. You can use rope to wrap around the tyre to disguise the black rubber and then paint it a vibrant colour and voila!
For those of you who love to sit on the sofa in the evening with a glass of wine or a cup of tea, this could be the perfect little DIY for you all you will need is some planks of wood and wood glue to make yourself a table which can slide onto the arm of your sofa. Start by measuring the height of the sofa and cut some wooden planks to fit this height. Make a rectangle and glue the pieces together, forming a small table. Place a piece of wood on top, paint it and use it whenever you want to have a brew and a cake while watching TV.
A fun and easy craft which can be used in any room of the house is a rope rug. All you will need for this is rope, a glue gun and a paint of your choice. Starting from a centre pint, wrap the rope in a circle until it forms a rug which is the desired size, glueing it together along the way. You can then finish off by painting the rug and then using it as a doormat, a bath rug or even just simply for the conservatory or lounge.
Boiling water taps
Boiling water taps are a gadget which can make your home feel like a luxury palace, and you don’t necessarily need a plumber like Mr. Rooter Plumbing to come and fit it for you. It should be a simple installation and when you turn on the tap you will have instantly boiling water. No more waiting for the kettle to boiled for a brew or the stove to heat up for pasta!
