Happiness blooms from within

August 23, 2017

A lot of people have asked me why Blunty and Blooms as a blog name? Well simply, Blunt is my surname and that's given me the nickname of 'Blunty' and Blooms refers to my love of flowers (or Blooms) I think fits better than Blunty and Flowers. So why do blooms make me happy? I think they lift the soul, there's something about having a vase of flowers in a room, in the garden, on a front door that make me happy. There have been many scientific studies on how flowers can relieve some of the stress in our lives. Bringing some nature into the picture cheers people up- FACT. Flowers have a long-term positive effect on moods. The participants in the flower study showed that you feel less depressed, anxious and agitated after receiving flowers, and demonstrated a higher sense of enjoyment and life satisfaction. Flowers make intimate connections.  So that's why I chose this name.

I love what I do. I have always wanted a creative career and workshopping is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time but never got round to.

After deciding earlier this year to take blogging a little more seriously and share inspiration and tips to others. I wanted to extend my creativity by offering workshops to people of all ages. I have loved art for as long as I can remember, I grew up with programmes like Blue Peter and Art Attack- I loved those shows! I did GSCE and A Level art and design and then a degree in design. Fostering creativity is so important to me and facilitating seasonal workshops allow me to do just that.

I am very excited to be releasing my first Christmas Wreath workshop at our local village hall and I will plan in a couple of others in 2018, I’m thinking a Mother’s day and an Easter workshop {Let me know if you have any requests} hopefully I will be collaborating with a few guests in the near future...I love coming up with ideas for activities and I do enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds.

If you’re local to Cannock/Lichfield/Rugeley and fancy letting loose your creative side, want to enjoy a winters morning at Cannock Wood and Gentleshaw Village Hall- I’d love you to join in and get inspired!

Nothing says 'Christmas is here' quite like putting a home-made wreath on your front door. During the mornings session, you will get to grips with the basics of crafting your own fresh festive wreath or table display using greenery. You will be using locally sourced, natural materials all provided and ready for you to decorate with dried orange slices, whole oranges, bundles of fragrant cinnamon sicks, feathers and luxury ribbons.

It will be a very informal session and a chance to get to know new people, we’re all here to have some fun and get in the festive spirit!

You can find out more information and register for the Christmas Wreath Making Workshop here.

P.S. Thanks to everyone who has already registered, I will be in touch with more information next month.
